Relationships – In this theme, children will consider how other people see us and how this might lead to feelings of embarrassment. The children will continue to explore their understanding of how thoughts can influence our feelings and our behaviour and how embarrassment can lead to other emotions, such as resentment, hurt, anger and shame. The children will explore how they might predict when they might feel embarrassed and when and how they might avoid an embarrassing situation. They will also consider how they might manage their feelings of embarrassment.
This term, we will be focusing on Geography and looking at comparing Europe to the Mediterranean. We will learn focus on Greece and Liverpool and use maps to support our learning.
Y5 will be tasting and making Mediterranean food. We will use vegetables that have been grown in our school allotment area. We are looking forward to some delicious, healthy food!

Our PE this term will be on Fridays.
Y5’s PE lessons this half term will focus on dance. Children MUST have full PE kits every week for these sessions; white T-Shirt, black shorts and black trainers/pumps. Children will also be regularly working on improving their stamina by walking/ jogging/ running a ‘Daily Mile’.
Homework will be set on a Friday to be returned the following Friday. There will also be Spelling and Maths Shed, TT Rockstar activities and homework set on Reading Plus. It is essential that we work together to ensure that homework is completed and returned. Reading daily for at least 15 minutes is also an expectation as well as bringing their reading books into school each week. It is vital that the children are encouraged to do this to achieve the high expectations set for the end of Key Stage 2.
We look forward to working with your children this year!
